Implications of W-Boson Mass Anomaly for Atomic Parity Violation

چکیده
We consider the implications of recent measurement W-boson mass MW=80,433.5±9.4MeV/c2 for atomic parity violation experiments. show that change in MW shifts Standard Model prediction 133Cs nuclear weak charge to QW(133Cs)=?73.11(1), i.e., by 8.5? from its current value, and proton 2.7%. The shift QW(133Cs) ameliorates tension between existing determinations value motivates more accurate theory calculations, while QW(p) inspires next-generation experiments with hydrogen. Using our revised QW(133Cs), we also readjust constraints on parameters physics beyond Model. Finally, reexamine running electroweak coupling new W boson mass.

Atomic parity violation and the HERA anomaly
We show that the two scenarios able to explain the Hera anomaly — a new leptoquark coupling or a new contact interaction — predict new contributions to atomic parity violation. These corrections are sufficiently large and different that a feasible reduction in the dominant atomic theory uncertainty could give some hint in favour of one of the two scenarios. 1 The excess of events at large Q obs...
متن کاملAtomic parity violation in cesium and implications for new physics
Recent high-precision measurements of atomic parity-nonconserving transitions between the 6S and 7S states of cesium allow for a determination of the weak nuclear charge with a precision of 1.3%, providing an improved test of the standard model at low energy. Implications for new physics are examined in terms of low energy effects on the weak charge, in particular contact interactions and scala...
متن کاملEffects of R-parity violation in unpolarized top quark decay into polarized W-boson
We calculate one-loop R-parity violating corrections to the top quark decay into a bottom quark and a polarized W-gauge boson. The corrections are presented according to the total corrections, the longitudinal corrections and the transverse corrections, respectively. We compared our results with the O(αs) QCD corrections, the O(α) electroweak (EW) and finite width corrections, and also the supe...
متن کاملTheoretical overview of atomic parity violation
Recent advances in interpreting the most accurate to-date measurement of atomic parity violation in Cs are reviewed. The inferred nuclear weak charge, QW ( Cs) = −72.65(28)expt(36)theor, agrees with the prediction of the standard model at 1σ level. Further improved interpretation is limited by an accuracy of solving basic correlation problem of atomic structure. We report on our progress in sol...
متن کاملAtomic Parity Violation , Leptoquarks , and Contact Interactions
The recent measurement of atomic parity violation in cesium atoms shows a 2.3σ deviation from the standard model prediction. We show that such an effect can be explained by four-fermion contact interactions with specific chiralities or by scalar leptoquarks which couple to the left-handed quarks. For a coupling of electromagnetic strength, the leptoquark mass is inferred to be 1.1 to 1.3 TeV. W...
